Mr. Prakash C. Kanugo, is the Chairman & Managing Director of the Company. He is the first-generation entrepreneur who started his business career as a trader in stainless steel sheets, coils and plates in the year 1978.
He later established Prakash Steelage Ltd. in the year 1991. During his long experience around more than 4 decades, he set up a strong business module backed by two state-of-the-art production units situated at Silvassa and Umbergaon (Gujarat).
Prakash Steelage Ltd. is a flagship company of Prakash Group. PSL got listed in both of the stock exchanges “BSE and NSE” in the year of 2010 and engaged in the manufacturing of seamless & welded stainless steel Pipes, Tubes and U-tubes. Prakash Steelage Ltd. is an ISO 9001:2008 & PED certified Company and also a “Govt. Recognized Star Export House” exporting to several MNCs into more than 40 countries across the Globe.
The Company had entered into a joint venture agreement in the year of 2015 with Tubacex S.A. Spain, a world leader in manufacturing of seamless stainless steel tubes for its seamless division at its factory Unit-II Umbergaon (Gujarat). The Joint venture was in force till March–2021 also have a manufacturing plant at Silvassa since 1996.
1978 – Entrepreneurial Beginning
Mr. Prakash C. Kanugo, a first-generation entrepreneur, enters the stainless steel industry as a trader in stainless steel sheets, coils, and plates.
Establishes a strong foundation in trading networks and industry relationships.
1991 – Incorporation of Prakash Steelage Ltd.
Formation of Prakash Steelage Ltd., marking the group’s entry into manufacturing.
The company is envisioned to serve both domestic and international stainless steel markets.
1996 – First State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Unit (Silvassa)
Commissioning of a modern production facility at Silvassa.
Focus on producing high-quality stainless steel welded pipes and tubes for industrial applications.
2000s – Business Expansion & Quality Recognition
Adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies and quality systems.
Building export capabilities and penetrating new international markets.
2010 – Major Milestone – Public Listing & Certifications
Prakash Steelage Ltd. listed on both Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Expands product portfolio to include seamless stainless steel pipes, tubes, and U-tubes.
Achieves ISO 9001:2008 and PED certification for quality management and compliance with European standards.
Recognized as a “Government Recognized Star Export House”, exporting to more than 40 countries including partnerships with several multinational corporations.
2015 – Strategic Joint Venture with Tubacex S.A., Spain
- Enters a joint venture for the seamless division at Unit-II, Umbergaon (Gujarat) with Tubacex S.A., a world leader in seamless stainless steel tube manufacturing.
- Brings international technology and best practices to enhance production capacity and quality.
March 2021 – Conclusion of Joint Venture
Joint venture with Tubacex comes to an end, with the company continuing operations under its own management.
Focus shifts toward further strengthening in-house capabilities and expanding market share.
Present Day – Ongoing Growth & Innovation
Prakash Steelage Ltd. continues to operate two state-of-the-art production units at Silvassa and Umbergaon.
